Word of the Year

After getting back from a rather hilarious 10-day stint in Philadelphia with my family, I started thinking about what I wanted from 2011. Firstly, 2011 is such a weird sounding year - I vastly preferred 2010 — mostly because I’m insane, and get all verklempt about dates ending in 5s and 0s.

So yeah. 2011. I don’t do resolutions - I make goals - but as my sister pointed out: They’re the same thing, and you’re dumb (She quite literally said this to me, she is a caustic realist, my younger sister). Continuing on in this theme -  Monday morning rolls around, and during our weekly kick off, the Manging Director at work comments that people don’t really make “resolutions” but have downgraded them to “intentions.”

Immediately I think two things: WTF really, people? and I CAN DO THAT!

I keep the bar low around here, that’s for sure. My intent for 2011 can easily be summed up in one word: balance. Specifically, the search for it. I know, I know - so blasé. It’s like trying to find the meaning of life that isn’t 42. I think for me, a successful 2011 means being able to more accurately schedule my time - and find that SUPER COVETED WORK LIFE BALANCE. It will be mine in 2011, bwuaha.

Real Talk: San Francisco

  • Me: I've never thought of SF as being particularly uptight
  • SG: no, it's not.
  • SG: but you see that's because RELAXING big time is THE ULTIMATE sign of LUXURY
  • SG: Like, yeah, this? It's 10 dollar ice cream bitches, made from the milk of virgin cows that are massaged daily in Switzerland? Oh and my fixie? Yeah, it's carbon fiber, bitches.

We are the music makers; we are the dreamers of dreams.
